Honey

Our very first honey. We are very excited. I have taken heaps of pictures of the whole process - from taking frames out of the hives, the extractor, etc. But a lack of time has seen me only choose 2 pictures.

Here is the honey flowing through the honey gate of the extractor into another bucket. We are only filtering it roughly via an ordinary kitchen sieve.
And here we have our very first honey, filled into jars. It's the best ever honey. Obviously. ;)

Is that from just one hive. It's a lovely colour. You'll have to post more photos later

Yes, Sue. Just one hive. And it was the first 3 frames. We have harvested another 3 frames after that. (Not included in the jars in the picture.)

We had a friend (who used to be a beekeeper) taste our honey. And he identified the flavour of the honey. 50-70% eucalyptus and the rest flowers from the garden. And he liked it. :)

Habt Ihr die Honigernte schon abgeschlossen?
Wieviel Honig war es denn,bei wieviel Stöcken bzw. Waben?

Harald, die Ernte ist noch nicht abgeschlossen. Also koennen wir noch nicht genau sage, wie viel wir insgesamt Honig haben werden.
Werde es dich wissen lassen, so bald wir die Bienen auf den Winter vorbereiten. :)
