Today's view

It is a very wet and windy day. Dark, too.On a brighter note, I finally preserved some tomatoes yesterday. And two jars of tomatillos. This season has been very weird. Spring was late to start (one month late, to be precise), and the summer was very mild (no complaints here!). We had good rains and all our water tanks are overflowing!

The tomato plants are laden with green fruit, but just not ripening up. Now with this wintery (very cold and windy) weather, I don't expect to pick much more. Yesterday, I went to pick some tomatoes and most of them had split and the millipedes, slaters, snails & slugs had moved in. What a revolting sight! I threw them over the fence and the chooks and sheep loved the food falling from the sky.

Today's view

We have had 56mm of rain since yesterday morning!
The big house water tank is overflowing, the ground is nicely saturated, the snails are out in force, the frogs are happily ribbiting.... the Mad Gnomes are smiling madly...
It's still drizzly out there, but not as cold as it looks. Lovely.

Today's view

The last two days were foggy and damp. Weird weather for summer. And it only got up to 19C yesterday. I am not complaining, as I don't like extremes - such as heat waves or flooding. My heart goes out to all the people who are affected by the floods in the north, and the bushfires in WA.

Today's view

It's been foggy, windy, rainy and dark the whole day. Wonderful weather to stay inside and get some work done.

Today's view

It's a lovely day today. A light drizzle that has been going steadily since early morning. A little fog to give it all a slightly mysterious look.
I don't have to do any watering, but must have a walk around the garden soon to stomp on unwanted slugs and snails. They have already killed one of my zucchini plants. Not happy.

Hail, hail...

...Spring??

A fierce, icy wind is howling out there. An occasional hail shower dumps pea-sized hail stones en masse on to our garden. I hesitate to think what the just-emerged seedlings in the garden are doing.

Today's view

It's dark, cold, wet. The temperature is still hovering between 5 and 6 degrees (Celsius) shortly before lunchtime!

We have had 42mm of rain overnight and we are very happy. The tanks are overflowing and the ground goes 'squish squish' when you walk on it.
It's still raining and we have also had a bit of hail. The rain gauge is filling up nicely again (I think we've had another 25mm since 8.30 this morning.)

Today's view

Winter started on Sunday, 1 June. This is today's view from the balcony. It's been a foggy, drizzly, cold, miserable day out there. The rain gauge recorded 2mm of rain + 1 snail this morning.
The slugs and snails are out in force. They munch on anything and everything.
It is a lovely day to stay inside and get some work done. The housework beckons, too. Oh, and I think there are about 3 baskets full of clothes waiting to be ironed. Maybe I'll just stay in the office? :)
