Persimmons

Just picked all our persimmons (they are from the certified organic orchard we have taken over).
They are looking absolutely gorgeous. There are several varieties, but unfortunately we don't know what they are. They are definitely astringent, that's for sure. Believe me, I tried them all. And I have
the furry lips, mouth, gums, teeth to prove it!
Now we'll have to wait till they are really soft and enjoy the lot. What a hardship. :)

We once had a persimmon tree in a garden when on holiday in a gite in France. They called them kaki and left them on the tree for the birds.

We really like them though.

Lucky birds! Persimmons seem to be an acquired taste. I love them - but I know plenty of people who do not enjoy them at all.

Love persimmons, especially the astringent ones left to go to jelly them mixed with cream and sugar and frozen. Yummmmmmm!

Raymondo, that is a very decadent way of eating them! Just reading the description makes me drool (and put on a few extra kilos!). :)
