Purple okra
It just looks stunning, doesn't it?
Picked the first ones, and I am looking forward to eating them. I'll probably just slice them and fry them till they are crispy. Any other serving suggestions? :)
My husband and I had a few okra curries and side dishes when we were in Sri Lanka a while ago - they were all quite tasty. Sorry, I can't help you with any actual recipes though.
Oh my! Love purple okra! I'll have to wait until summer for these beauties! They turn green on cooking though. Try this salad, The okra is deep fried in the original recipe.

Is this a different variety to the green ones I'm more familiar with?
Yes, Sue. It's called Okra 'Burgundy'. I just really like the colour of this one. The taste is more or less the same as the green one. :)

And I'm kind of crazy for this okra kichadi.
Both these are made with green okra but it shouldn't make a difference if you use purple okra.
Michelle, I was thinking of curry, too.
Manisha, well, you must have read my mind! Thanks so much for the links to the recipes!
Now I need more okra! :)
