Here is our new rooster. He's a big boy! We don't have a name for him yet, any suggestions? At the moment we call him - wait for it - Big Boy!
This is his first morning with our girls. He was a bit reluctant to get off the perch. Can't blame him, the weather is pretty bad today.
He is pretty, isn't he? Also very gentle with the girls so far.
Wow he's gorgeous. What a lovely tail! Its a bit wet today isn't it, my girls are all under the back verandah hiding from the rain, making a big mess for me to clean up later no doubt!
ReplyDeleteYes, can't blame them! I'm happy to be indoors today, too. I'm sure your girls' mess will benefit the garden later on! :)
ReplyDeleteHe is certainly big and beautiful, a word of caution though. I have heard of people who have put new roosters straight in with a dozen girls only to have a "dead from exhaustion" rooster a few days later, i was recommende to introduce to 3 + 3 + 6 ish to ensure he breaks himself in gently. Oh My.
ReplyDeleteOh, thanks for the word of caution, David & Sara. I checked on them just then, and the rooster has found himself a quiet corner, where he can watch the girls from a safe distance. He seems to be a bit shy.
ReplyDeleteHe probably can't make his mind up where to start!
ReplyDeleteWhat a handsome boy he is!!
ReplyDeleteSue, probably!
ReplyDeleteNina, definitely.
Raymondo, a Sussex, or something like that. :)
