We have been busy in the garden and the kitchen. Now is the time to whizz around the garden and harvest as much as possible before the slugs, snails, birds, millipedes, etc. move in.
These are jars of preserved tomatoes and marinara sauce (tomatoes, spring onions, garlic and herbs). Here just a little selection. The pantry is full and looking good.
Hello Veggie Gnome, I just wanted to say ‘Hi’. I have been reading your blog for a few months now and really enjoy your adventures in the garden and out and about. My family and I currently live in Guernsey but we will be moving back home to Australia soon. I am keen on developing a garden which can provide as much of our families food as possible so your blog has been very helpful in my ‘research’. So thankyou Veggie Gnome and I look forward to reading more, Best Wishes, Gillian
ReplyDeleteOh and that would be 'family's' not 'families' as to date I believe I only have one :)
ReplyDeleteHi Gillian, thank you for your kind comments. All the best with your move and your 'new adventure' in setting up a veggie garden back home. It is very rewarding and satisfying to be able to feed your family with the produce from your garden. It will be interesting to follow your journey on your blog. All the best! :)
ReplyDeleteTeeheee..... imagine the size of the veggie patch, if you had to feed more than one family. ;)
ReplyDeleteIf only I could get The Gardener to grow enough tomatoes that I would have some left over for bottling. Ours are about three weeks off going into the ground. I think he gives them away and thats why there never any to bottle.
ReplyDeleteRobyn, let's hope this year will be different then! Hopefully plenty of tomatoes for preserving and making chutney. Just let The Gardener know you MUST have plenty. :)
