Mullein

This is a fairly new addition to my herb garden. It's a stunning plant. The leaves are a gorgeous silvery-green colour, and the long flower spike is laden with flowers, when in full bloom. Every part of it can be used for medicinal purposes, but I haven't experimented with it yet. It's also very low maintenance - always a bonus! :)

  1. I once saw this growing by the roadside in France. It was covered in large yellow, black and white striped caterpillars

  2. Is it not that common in the UK? The caterpillars sound intriguing. That area must have looked a treat, once they turned into butterflies, or so.

  3. Yes it is fairly common - I think saying I once saw was deceptive - that was referring to the plant being covered with caterpillars. The caterpillars were the mullein moth which are less colourful than their caterpillars
