... you are feeling poorly?
Winter is a great time to do so. Colds lurk everywhere. Flower Gnome kindly shared hers with me. Thanks!
Sit on the sofa, rugged up in a thick sheep wool blanket, in front of the fire. Sip a lemon/ginger/honey concoction. Doze and read.
I usually surround myself with my 'comfort books':
My big pile of 'Snoopy' books - that's when you know I'm feeling really crappy. Or read Harry Potter. Again. Or, now that I've finally found a copy at the Oxfam bookshop: Michael Ende 'Die Unendliche Geschichte' (=Neverending Story). This was made into a film which only shows about 5? 10? percent of the whole story in the book.
Anyway, the child within is pleased. Appeased?
So, what do YOU do when you are feeling poorly?
depends HOW poorly. If very poorly then i sleep in bed, all day, if moderately poorly, i do the couch and rugs and cups of tea and lots of books if my head can manage it and if im just a bit poorly then i have been known to do everything as per normal and just complain alot! Hope youre feeling better soon, and hope youve had lots of looking after.
ReplyDeleteHarry Potter got me through some pretty tough times of not being well - it is my number one hard-core comfort therapy. When I'd read and re-read them numerous times, I'd read other favourites like Philip Pullman's Golden Compass series, the Artemis Fowl series, Lord of the Rings etc. For flus and colds it's HP movies for me, Dr Who episodes, and lying on the couch with lots of blankets and hot cups of tea. Hope you shake the nasty winter bugs soon. Meanwhile enjoy taking instruction from the inner child - they always knows best!
ReplyDeletePS Love little Lambie on the couch!
ReplyDeleteEnsure Zebbycat is well fed, then snuggle down in my beddybise with Zeb resting his head on my shoulder. We then set to snoozle away the day.
ReplyDelete(I guess Zebby has taken the place of my childhood teddy bear. I loved her so much her face has worn off. Teddy resides in the hotwater cupboard whre she's warm and safe from Zeb).
Susan Cooper's "The Dark is Rising" sequence is always a favourite, with Eion Colfer for laughes.
Zebbycat is demonstrating his other choice - snuggle down with your nose in a fluffy scarf (pinch it from your housemate) and PURRRRRUMBLE to yourself.
Hope you're feeling better soon, dear Veggie Gnome,
Michelle/Mickle, Zebbycat's human
Like Kel,it depends on how poorly I am, if very poorly then only bed will do, otherwise I mope around and try to avoid doing anything, maybe read a lot and drink tea, and ring my Mum for sympathy. Try a bit of chilli and garlic in your lemon, honey and ginger concoction or maybe some gin, lemon and honey stirred together and sipped slowly.
ReplyDeletetake care and get well soon
