Two mad gnomes and a big garden. The Veggie Gnome does the edible stuff, the Berry Gnome the berries and taties.

Red Currants Galore!
...and that's only the beginning!
We picked the first lot today.
The first bush (the smallest) is nearly empty, the kitchen bench is full. We will freeze this lot.
They are absolutely fantastic in winter! Muffins, tarts, frozen berry yoghurt, muesli, yoghurt, etc.....
This lot gave us 2.6 kilos of frozen berries!

Wow! And the birds didn't eat too many?
ReplyDeleteThat's the strange thing around here. They eat anything you don't net, but they don't touch the red currants.
ReplyDelete3 more bushes to pick - come over and pig out on red currants!
Save some for me! I had a look at mine ( grown from cuttings from your garden) and we will probably have a handful this year. Next year will be better! Blueberries looking good though, and no birds as yet. They usually arrive when I say - I'll pick those tomorrow!
