Moo, we haven't grown either variety before so can't comment on them yet. Yes, no-dig style. I love no dig! But I did prepare the bed beforehand. Newspapers, manure, compost, etc. piled up thickly. I let that rest a few weeks and then put the potatoes in and piled the good stuff on top of them.
Mind you, we do have 3 more potato beds where we grow them in the more 'traditional' way.
Gav, towers are good, too! All the best with your potatoes! :)
I am always happy to read your comments, dear readers. However, I am trialling 'word verification' for a little while, as I have been receiving a lot of spam. The spam never makes it onto the comment pages, as I am moderating all comments. But it is starting to get tedious to moderate all the spam. I hope this will not cause any inconvenience to any of may regular readers. Please leave a comment - I am always happy to hear from you! :)
I just put some potatoes in a couple of weeks ago too. http://mooimadeit.wordpress.com/2008/09/28/peter-cundalls-no-dig-potato-growing/
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of Lustre and Up To Date! What are they like?
Did you put your seed potatoes on top of the lawn, no dig style as well?
Hi VG,
ReplyDeleteI will have to scrounge some wood for a potato tower. I just don't have the space left for such a big bed!
